Astrid de La Forest Française, b. 1962

Astrid de La Forest uses several techniques, including etching, aquatint, drypoint and carborundum, either in limited series or as monotypes.

She works mainly directly from nature, depicting mountains, trees and wines, as well as the animal world and human portraits.

She shows in Switzerland, in the UK and in Paris at the Galerie Vieille du Temple. In the words of Mr Bonafous-Murat, gallerist, her 'monkey series' opened the Galerie Documents 15.

« Her talent lies in mastering the rapidity of drawing as well as the slowness of printmaking, without losing the force and energy of her subject matter.  Her prints, done with a free hand, find their true dimensions when they are transposed on metal where they keep all their original spontaneity and luminosity, as the rigor of her blacks match the lightness of her subjects. »
