Wendelien Schönfeld received a classical art education which allowed her to choose from various techniques. Graphic art, however, is a common thread throughout her career. Sculpture is as well, which she practices by carving wood and modeling clay.  She adjusts and prints each plate with a dedicated color, one on top of the other, by taking advantage of the transparency of the ink to mix colors, just as a painter would have done.

Her subjects take on everyday life. Her true subject is differing points of view. Through imagining these differences, she aims to show the value in each perspective.

In Amsterdam, she works and lives surrounded by artists who share ideas, offer insights, and engage one another. Wendelien Schönfeld is quite conscious  that her work is nourished by her relationships with other artists. She will exhibit work in an exhibition alongside four artists who have influenced her work: Marianne Fox Ockinga, Toine Moerbeek, Joanna Quispe et Paul Gorter.

A large number of her works exist today in prestigious collections, including the

Graphic Arts Department of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Custodia Foundation, the Mauritshuis in The Hague, and the Henriette Polak Museum in Zutphen (in the province of Gelderland).
